Highlights: Blackcaps beat Bangladesh in second T20 by 47 runs in Mount Maunganui

The Blackcaps have locked up the T20 series against Bangladesh with a game to play, winning by 47 runs, thanks in part to a magnificent 52-ball century from Auckland Aces batsmen Colin Munro.

The 29-year-old clubbed 101 from 54 balls to pull the home side out of discomfort after the loss of three early wickets at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Make-shift opening batsmen Luke Ronchi was dismissed off the games first ball, and by the end of the sixth over New Zealand were three-down with less than 50 runs on the board.

However, with help from Tom Bruce, Munro took the offense directly at the visitors in a brutal hour of batting that saw him hit seven sixes.

123 runs later and the Blackcaps were well on their way to an imposing total.

Rubel Hossain picked up three late wickets for the visitors to help restrict the hosts to 195, when a 200 plus score was on the cards while Munro was at the crease.

Bruce finished on a polished 59 from 39 balls in just his second international match, hitting five fours and a six.

With 196 runs required to level the series, Bangladesh often threatened but never took control of the run chase.

Mirroring the New Zealand innings, the visitors lost three wickets inside the powerplay, but a quick fire 68-run partnership between Sabbir Rahman (48) and Soumya Sarkar (39) gave kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson, a few headaches.

Spearhead Trent Boult broke the pair's resistance in the 11th over and that would end the chances of the Asian side as they petered to 148 all-out inside 19 overs.

The final match is at the same venue on Sunday.
