Braden Currie and Amelia Watkinson blitz fields at Port of Tauranga Half

Braden Currie has won the Port of Tauranga Half Ironman with a course record time in Mount Maunganui.

The Kiwi completed the course in three hours and fourty-five minutes, giving him a winning margin of just over two-minutes over fellow New Zealander, 10-time winner Cameron Brown with Aucklander Hayden Wilde completing the podium.

Amelia Watkinson was equally impressive in the women's race, the New Zealander blitzed the field, finishing over three minutes in front of compatriot Julia Grant from Ashburton with Auckland's Teresa Adam coming home third.
