Down here we all know that in France's Top 14, they do things a little differently.
And whether it's throwing money at some of our most talented players or players retiring before allegedly signing with other clubs, there's certainly never a dull moment.
So when players from glamour club Racing 92 donned blazers over their rugby attire and came together on the field before their New Year's Day clash with Toulon to clink glasses filled with champagne by team staff, few in the crowd would have blinked an eye.
But it certainly makes for an interesting celebration elsewhere.
Former All Black Dan Carter and the rest of the Racing 92 team formed a huddle before all joining glasses and raising them to the sky to toast the New Year.
And while Carter looks slightly bewildered, they all quaffed the bubbly before assembling on the field for kick-off. A heavily tattooed, shirtless man then sung Pilou Pilou through a stadium microphone like he does before every match against Toulon.
The warm-up preceeded a slightly dour match, however Carter's former All Blacks teammate Ma'a Nonu got on the scoreboard with a try to seal a 17-11 win for Toulon.
Just another day in French rugby.
