Highlights: Manchester United edge Hull City in first leg of League Cup semi final

Manchester United have one foot in the League Cup final after a late Marouane Fellaini header gave them a 2-0 win over Hull City in the first leg of their last four clash.

It looked to be a frustrating night for the home side with Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata all failing to convert early chances. And when Hull City were able to conjure a few narrow chances, it looked to be their night.

However Juan Mata put United ahead early in the second half, hammering home an assist header from Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the delight of the Old Trafford crowd.

After the team went 1-0 up, the red devils started to dominate the match with wingers Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard adding some much-needed width to the United attacking third.

That culminated in a well taken goal from Fellaini who rose at the far post to head home a cross from Italian Matteo Darmian with three minutes remaining.

It was United's ninth straight win overall and extended their unbeaten run to 15 games.
