It wasn't the ideal way for Bangladeshi batsman Shakib Al-Hasan to start his day at the crease.
In just the second over of the day, Blackcaps bowler Tim Southee fielded an innocuous defensive shot off his own bowling before proceeding to fling an ill-advised run-out attempt directly back towards batsman Shakib.
Well inside his crease and offering no threat of a run, the 29-year-old copped the full brunt of Southee's misguided throw directly to his ankle, sending him straight to the deck in agony.
It certainly wasn't the seamer's finest moment, and the commentary team of Ian Smith and Simon Doull didn't hold back with their assessments.
