England have cemented their spot as the second best rugby nation on the planet, claiming back-to-back Six Nations titles and equalling the All Blacks tier one world record for consecutive victories with a thumping 61-21 win over Scotland at Twickenham.
It was looking ugly from the outset with the Scottish midfield defence torn apart by England's running back line. And in the third minute, centre Jonathan Joseph cut through the visitors like a hot knife through butter which led to the first try.
The hosts were scoring at a point a minute in the first quarter after two penalties followed by another Joseph try saw them shoot out to a 20-0 lead with Scotland struggling to block the gaps and compete with England either at the breakdown or out wide.
They managed to stem the bleeding as they looked for continuity in close which led to their first try. But anything they could do around the fringes, the English matched them out wide, scything through a defence that was powderpuff at times, essentially securing the win at half time, up 30-7.
It was much of the same in the second half, taking a metre to Scotland's inch with Joseph scoring a hat trick and halves Ben Youngs and Owen Farrell directing traffic beautifully around the park.
After the match, England coach Eddie Jones was happy his team could complete the demolition.
"At half-time, I told them to be ruthless and behave like the number one team in the world," Jones said.
"The number one team in the world goes out and finishes the job off."
England won't have to wait long to get the opportunity to set a new world record for consecutive tier one victories of 19 with a date with Ireland in Dublin next week.
Should they emerge victorious, it would be the first time a side has recorded back-to-back undefeated Six Nations campaigns.
In the earlier match, France were too good for Italy 40-16 in Rome seeing them equal Ireland in second on the Six Nations ladder.
