A woman arrested for trespassing at the New York Mets spring training complex in Port St Lucie, told police she's in a relationship with Tim Tebow.
Tebow, a former NFL quarterback with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, is now attempting to crack baseball's major leagues with the New York Mets, and was part of the spring training camp in Florida.
Police say Michelle Marie Thompson showed up at First Data Field on Sunday, February 28, asking questions about Tebow.
According to the arrest report, the officer who looked at Thompson's Colorado driver's license said it had a sticker that read, "I [heart symbol] Jesus/Tim Tebow."
Officers then asked Thompson why she was at the sports complex. According to the report, the 36-year-old woman said she was there to see Tebow and that "they were in a current relationship".
The woman said she lived with "Tim" and gave an address out of Jacksonville, Florida.
A representative with the Mets organisation told police he wanted a trespassing warning given to the woman.
Police gave Thompson the warning and checked her background. According to the police report, Thompson had a prior arrest in Colorado for indecent exposure, but no conviction.
Two days later, Thompson showed up again at the ballpark, and drove right past security in her car. Police arrested her for trespassing and took her to the St Lucie County Jail.
She remains jailed on a US$750 bond..
