Hurricanes star Nehe Milner-Skudder doesn't think the bad headlines will be attached to his career in the wake of the recent run-ins with the law in France, for former All Blacks Ali Williams and Dan Carter.
Carter was arrested on a drink-driving charge two weeks ago in Paris while Williams was caught trying to buy cocaine in the same city on Monday morning [NZ time].
The eight-Test All Black said it's certainly not an avenue he sees himself taking in his career.
"Definitely don't do what he [Williams] did, that's for sure," he said.
"We have a motto at the Hurricanes to set the example for the little ones and always hold those standards high 24/7, so it's a no-brainer to not do that kind of thing."
Milner-Skudder makes his long-awaited Super Rugby return on Saturday as the Hurricanes host the Melbourne Rebels.
The 26-year-old missed the historic championship season for the Wellington franchise in 2016 through injury and says Saturday can't come soon.
"I've had a couple of hit-outs in pre-season but too be back at the Cake Tin; to be back at home after missing last season it's been a long time coming and I'm fizzing for this week."
Hurricanes call on All Blacks' star tro for Rebels clash
The wing/fullback stormed onto the international stage at the Rugby World Cup in 2015 after staring for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby the same year, but his shoulder injury suffered against the Blues almost one year ago curtailed any chance for the Taihape-born outside-back to contribute to the first championship in Hurricanes history.
Milner-Skudder said his injury scare in the final warm-up game last month against the Crusaders brought those bad memories back, but he is relieved it was just a precaution by team doctors to give him last week-off.
"Too come off early in that Crusaders game in pre-season with a bit of a tight niggle, I was still hopeful I could make the trip for round one but it gave me a little time and it was probably a sensible call to hang back here and get a bit of work in and come right for this week."
Milner-Skudder will start at fullback against Melbourne, the game is scheduled for a 5pm kick-off on Saturday.
