The Lions may have been dealt an early blow with Welsh lock and captaincy frontrunner Alun Wyn Jones in doubt for the upcoming tour to New Zealand.

Jones injured his left shoulder during his side dramatic 20-18 loss to France on Sunday (NZ Time), with the severity of the problem to be assessed over the coming days. He has, however, already been ruled out of his Ospreys side's European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais in early April.

The 31-year-old has been part of two Lions tours, including their victorious Australian campaign back in 2013.

Jones was among coach Warren Gatland's leading candidates to take up the Lions captaincy, taking over as Wales skipper from Sam Warburton this season.
