Live updates: New Zealand Warriors vs Brisbane Broncos - NRL

WARRIORS 28 - 10 BRONCOS

FULLTIME: A well-deserved win for the Warriors, their fifth of 2017. A number of players were impressive for the home team. The fans, the players and coaching staff will be delighted with that result. The Warriors will face the Paramatta Eels in Sydney next week on Friday night.

78mins: Warriors steal the ball and will have one last chance for points.

76mins: Joe Ofahengaue goes over the line, but it held up. luckily for the Warriors, it was the last tackle.

75mins: Broncos with the ball inside their half as we head into the final five minutes in Auckland.

73mins: Benji Marshall does some more stepping and he puts Herman Ese'ese into space and he looks for an offload but Roger Tuivasa-Sheck pounces on the loose ball

72mins: The Warriors kick on the third tackle and the ball goes dead. Seven tackle set for the Broncos.

71mins: A mistake by the Broncos and the Warriors have the ball near the line.

70mins: Great set by the Warriors as The Brocnos start the set right on their own line.

69mins: I think that try has sealed it for the home-team Broncos looking deflated.

67mins: The conversion is sucessful.

66mins: TRY WARRIORS: James Gavet celebrates his new contract with a potentially
match-winning try. Gets the ball close and uses his power to charge over the line.

65mins: Confusion on that play as the ball goes into touch off a Warriors kick. But it looks like David Mead touched the ball before hand. Warriors with a scrum 10 from the line.

64mins: That try has given the Broncos a confidence boost as, after two plays, they make 40 metres. Two plays later they are inside the 20, but they make a mistake.

62mins: TRY BRONCOS: James Roberts has his second. Superb by the Broncos. After being pinned inside the 10, the Broncos kick early into space on the right wing and Jonus Pearson gathers the ball and he passes back infield to Roberts.

60mins: 20 minutes to go and the Warriors lead by 18 points. Can they hold onto to this lead?

59mins: But it comes to nothing as Jordan Kahu throws a forward pass into the stands.

58mins: Broncos win a penalty for being inside the 10. Broncos will start the set on halfway.

58mins: Warriors spot a gap on the left edge and attack, but on the last Johnson takes the ball back infield and kicks towards the left corner but has too much on it and it goes dead.

56mins: It feels like the Broncos are finally starting to set some control on the game. Both teams look tired and as I type that the Broncos kick the ball into touch.

55mins: Solid follow up-set by the Broncos. They kick early inside the 30 and RTS is forced to dive on the ball and the Broncos pin the home side inside the 10.

53mins: Jordan Kahu does not make the conversion. Warriors lead 22-4.

52mins: TRY BRONCOS: Great try by the Broncos. They run on the last and Benji puts the Broncos into space, he gets the ball back and steps around a few Warriors players and eventually the Warriors run out of numbers and James Roberts finds his way over.

51mins: Another cheeky grubber by Shaun Johnson, but Ben Hunt gathers the ball and just does enough to get out of the in goal.

50mins: Poor kick by the Broncos on the last. They let the ball bounce right into the hands of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Warriros attack with space down the left edge.

49mins: Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad looks like he was tackled in the air by a ghost as he makes a bizarre attempt catching the ball off a Broncos kick. Three plays later Ken Maumalo makes a great run and Foran kicks on the last. The ball nearly goes out but Jordan Kahu saves it.

47mins: Warriors kick on the lasy, the grubber kick is deflected but not played at and the Broncos surivive the latest Warriors attack.

46mins: The Warriors kick on the last and it a bouncy grubber kick and Jonus Pearson bobbles the ball. Goal line dropout for the Warriors.

 on the halfway line.

44mins: Johnson lands the conversion and the Warriors now lead 22-0.

43mins: TRY WARRIORS: What a beauty by the Warriors! Issac Luke gets quickly play-the-ball and he makes great runs and finds Ken Maumalo who dives over for his easiest try of his short career.

42mins: Broncos follow suit but don't chase and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck makes about 20 metres pm his return.

41mins: Warriors complete their first set of the match.

40mins: The second half is underway in Auckland. The Warriors have struggled defensively this season and on the attack at times. Can they change their fortunes? Tune in to find out.

HALFTIME: Warriors have a healthy 16-0 lead at the break. The first time the Warriors have kept a team scoreless in the first half this season.

38mins: TRY WARRIORS: The try is given and the captain scores under the posts.

38mins: Possible try to the Warriors. Shaun Johnson puts in the grubber kick and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck dives on the ball. They go up the bunker saying try.

37mins: Shaun Johnson makes another great run and finds Ken Maumalo on the wing on the fourth. On the last, the Warriors kick towards the posts....

35mins: Broncos win a penalty. Their first of the match. But the Broncos make a mistake trying to get some quick-play-the-ball/ Warriors scrum.

33mins: Sam Lisone with the Sione Lauaki-esk fend on one of the Broncos players. Johnson on the last and the Warriors let the ball bounce and the Broncos gather the ball.

32mins: Shakey set from the Warriors and the Broncos gather the ball on the last. They have been under the pump for most of the match. James Roberts still trying to get the jets going but no luck so far.

31mins: Some razzle-dazzle by the Warriors wins them a penalty. A quick play the ball which led to back-to-back offloads. Warriors start the set 25 metres from the line.

29mins: Big yards made through the middle of the park by the Warriors. Instead of kicking on the last they run and Mannering finds James Roberts but he is shut down before he can get running. That is their fifth mistake they have made inside the Broncos 20.

28mins: Benji Marshall makes the mistake and the crowd cheers. Warriors get the scrum.

27mins: Kodi Nikorima is now on and his presence is felt immediately as they attack down the right wing and David Mead is tackled short of the line. They kick the ball in goal to force the dropout.

25mins: Seven tackle set for the Broncos and they look to take advantage. Last tackle Hunt kicks high, but Fusitu'a takes the high ball and the Warriors survive again.

24mins: Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad goes over the line but drops the ball as he goes to put it down. Shaun Johnson nearly goes the way but finds hi9s winger in support who needed to step back infield and sadly he drops the ball.

23mins: James Roberts makes another mistake. Roberts gets thrown a hospital pass and Ayshford smashes him, forcing the mistake.

22mins: Warriors make little ground off their next set and once again kick early and the ball bounces in goal and they chase great as David Mead is tackled inside the 10.

21mins: Warriors kick early in the set and Jordan Kahu is smashed by David Fusitu'a returning the ball.

20mins: The conversion is over and the Warriors now lead 10-0 after 20.

19mins: TRY WARRIORS: Shaun Johnson is over! The halfback spots a big hole and he just goes for it. He backs himself and steps past Kahu to score under the black dot.

17mins: Benji Marshall nearly makes a linebreak but Issac Luke makes the tackle. Next play James Roberts is smashed by Ben Matuliono. On the last, they kick and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad makes a massive run down the wing before cutting back infield made about 40 metres.

15mins: Shaun Johnson nearly goes over but Ben Hunt makes a try-saving tackle around the boot laces. Matulino then follows it up with a great run, but James Gavet makes the mistake. Broncos scrum.

14mins: From the scrum Jimmy the Jet drops the ball and now the Warriors will have a scrum. 20 metres out.

13mins: Warriors make about 60 metres off the set following the try and Kieran Foran has his kicked charged on the last and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is forced to kick and the ball bounces over the sideline.

12mins: Tough conversion for Johnson and it sprays wide.

11mins: TRY WARRIORS: A simple sweep move by the Warriors and Blake Ayshford has the first four-pointer of the game and his first of 2017.

9mins: The first penalty of the game goes to the Warriors. They kick to touch and will start the set 35 metres from the line.

8mins: Jordan Kahu with another catch, Broncos now run the ball out of their half.

7mins: Benji Kicks on the last again and the kick is charged. Issac Luke dives on the ball. Early stages indicate the Warriors are in control, but they need to convert in the red zone, as they have made two mistakes early when the could have scored.

6mins: Bronco drops the ball and the Warriors dive on the loose ball and start the set 30 metres from the line. But another poor pass by the home-team and the Broncos intercept the ball.

Pre-match banter - Simon Mannering rejects Warriors 'saviour' tag ahead of injury return against Broncos

Warriors workhorse Simon Mannering has brushed off any talk of serving as the NRL side's saviour after two limp defeats.

The 30-year-old ex-skipper has sat out the past two matches with a hamstring strain, coinciding with demoralising losses to Penrith and the Dragons.

He will return to the fray in his customary lock position for this weekend's clash with the high-flying Brisbane Broncos in Auckland, but warned against expecting too much from any one player.

The side's defensive woes and lack of grit - they made 57 missed tackles in the Waikato last week - would take more than one man or one week to fix.

"It definitely hurts morale, the results we've had and the way we've played (and) it's not going to be a quick fix from one person that's going to get it right," Mannering told reporters on Wednesday.

"It's not just one person that's got to get the job done."

With the Broncos ravaged by their State of Origin-related absences, the Warriors will fancy their chances of getting back on track with a win at home.

Yet Mannering was still on high alert for a "benchmark" Brisbane outfit including the likes of Ben Hunt, Benji Marshall, Adam Blair and Jordan Kahu.

The Warriors' leadership group would need to urgently step up and provide guidance to their younger troops.

"That's a strong side that's going to be playing on Saturday - if you have guys out, the guys that come in bring a lot more enthusiasm," Mannering said.

"Every time you come up against them, you try and lift yourself."
