Frustrated Wallabies fan writes open letter to side on Facebook to express disgust at current state of Australian rugby

As if things couldn't get any worse for the Wallabies, it now appears their own fans are turning on them.

The 2015 World Cup runners-up sunk to a 24-19 loss to Scotland on Saturday [NZT], who were missing three of their key players - currently in the British and Irish Lions squad touring New Zealand.

The Wallabies never led, and despite dominating the last 20 minutes the home side struggled to breakdown the stoic Scot defence.

Wallaby fans took to social media to vent their ongoing frustration with the state of Australian rugby at the highest level, but it is an open letter to Michael Cheika and his side that has garnered the biggest response.

Jack Quigley, 29, of Lismore, New South Wales, took to Facebook to express his anguish over the loss, labelling the national side a "disgrace".

"When I was a kid, hell, even now, I would've given my left nut just to pull on a Wallabies jumper, but when I see you guys run out, I feel like you don't care. I KNOW you don't care, because it shows," Quigley wrote.

"I love you, but I'll be blunt. The Wallabies are a disgrace. You got lucky in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2015 thanks to Craig Joubert losing the plot in the last minute (against Scotland, funnily enough) for some reason and you've lived off it ever since."

Quigley added: "I'm willing to drive to Brisbane this week and address the squad. 15 minutes. That's all I'll need. Then I'll turn around and drive home again, because I feel like you've lost touch with the common man."

The Wallabies have yet to respond.
