Li Haotong's mum became a social media sensation on Friday (NZT) as she waded into water at the Open de France to rescue her son's putter which he had broken and thrown in.
But after rolling up her shorts and braving the cold, muddy water, Li's mum quickly realised the putter was broken and promptly threw it back into the water.
Players, including Belgium's Thomas Pieters and Tyrrell Hatton and their caddies watched on the nearby 11th green with laughter - though no-one seemed to be too keen on giving Li's mum a helping hand.
Li had snapped his putter after a bogey on the 11th and was forced to use his sand wedge as a putter for the rest of his round.
Ironically, Li played his last seven holes in level par and even managed a birdie at the 14th with his sand wedge - eventually carding a respectable level-par 71.
