All White star Marco Rojas will play in the top Dutch league next season after signing for SC Heerenveen.

Newshub understands the striker has already left Melbourne for Holland to undergo a medical at the club with the length and the value of the contract not yet disclosed.

The 25-year-old was a shining light for A-League side Melbourne Victory, scoring 13 goals in 25 appearances on the way to the final where they lost to Sydney FC on penalties.

The club he's headed to, SC Heerenveen came ninth in the Eredivisie last season, behind the likes of Dutch giants Ajax and Feyenoord and just beneath main rivals FC Groningen.

The club is currently where Real Madrid prodigy Martin Ødegaard plies his trade.

It's also one of the first clubs of Dutch and Manchester United great Ruud van Nistelrooy.
