Olympic bronze medallist Eliza McCartney has been eliminated from the women's pole vault final in ninth place at the world athletics championships on London.
The New Zealander was well short of her personal best of 2017 of 4.82m, failing all three attempts at 4.65m.
Her performance was better than in qualifying two days earlier, when she couldn't better 4.55m but did enough to claim the last spot in the final.
McCartney has been dealing with an Achilles injury for the last three-months which has affected her build-up to the world championships.
The 20-year-old had no trouble clearing 4.55m, leaving plenty of room between herself and the bar which would have given her confidence as the competition revved up.
However 4.65m proved too much for the Kiwi and she was eliminated.
McCartney cleared an Oceania record 4.82m in Auckland in February and managed 4.75m in Rome in June before injury struck.
