The All Blacks have now won six games on the bounce against the Wallabies, averaging 40 points per game in that run.

The last time Australia travelled to New Zealand and defeated the All Blacks was in August 2001; they’ve since lost 20 such fixtures.

The All Blacks posted 40 first-half points against the Wallabies last week, setting the record for the most first-half points in a Rugby Championship game, and the most ever conceded in a Test match by Australia.

The last and only previous meeting between these teams at Forsyth Barr Stadium saw the All Blacks run out 41-33 victors, in 2013.

Kieran Read is set to make his 95th start for the All Blacks (102nd cap), which would equal Mils Muliaina for the fourth most ever by a New Zealand player (behind McCaw, Carter and Woodcock).

The Wallabies will be looking to win back-to-back Rugby Championship games away from home for the first time since 2000 when they earned consecutive wins in New Zealand and South Africa.

Only Bryan Habana (21) has scored more tries than Ben Smith (17) at The Rugby Championship.

Pre-match banter - Nelson set to host first All Blacks Test as NZ Rugby announce 2018 international schedule

Nelson will become the eighth New Zealand city to host an All Blacks Test following its inclusion on the international schedule for 2018.

Argentina will face the All Blacks at Trafalgar Park in a Rugby Championship Test on September 8.

The Test bisects Rugby Championship clashes in Auckland (versus Australia) and Wellington (South Africa).

Auckland and Wellington will also host the first two Tests against France in June, with Dunedin staging the third.

Christchurch hasn't been given a Test, sparking disappointment from rugby officials there.

Nelson, the venue for three pool games at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, joins Hamilton, Napier and New Plymouth as cities to host All Blacks Tests in the professional era.

Before 1996, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin had a mortgage on such Tests.

New Zealand Rugby chief strategy and operations officer Nigel Cass said Nelson has proven it has the ability to stage a major event.

"We're excited that the people of Nelson will be able to experience All Black rugby on their patch," he said.

"They proved during the 2011 Rugby World Cup that they are capable of hosting world class events and this will certainly be a highlight on the calendar."

Meanwhile, Canterbury Rugby Union chief executive Nathan Godfrey said Christchurch's omission - it was also snubbed in 2014 - underlines the need for the city to build a new stadium.

AMI Stadium, which has hosted four Tests and is home to the Super Rugby Champion Crusaders, was always regarded as a temporary solution for Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake crippled Lancaster Park.

"This is disappointing news for Canterbury rugby fans," Godfrey said.

"We understand that there are clear criteria for awarding All Black games. We need to accept that we no longer meet that criteria with the current facilities and infrastructure - that is just the reality we now face."

The initial stage of a feasibility study is being conducted into the construction of a new stadium.
