Wellington Phoenix sign Serbian striker Andrija Kaludjerovic

The Wellington Phoenix have announced the signing of veteran Serbian striker Andrija Kaludjerovic on a one-year deal.

The 30-year-old was unveiled by the club on Tuesday, and will undertake his second spell in the A-League after a 10-game stint with the Brisbane Roar in 2015, where he scored five goals.

Kaludjerovic has had stints in Switzerland, China, Spain, Serbia and Lithuania, and has three international caps. He has scored 108 goals in 236 games across his career.

Kaludjerovic worked under current Phoenix assistant coach Rado Vidosic at the Roar, and the striker admitted his presence at the club was a big part of his decision to sign.

"When I talked with him he told me about the plan and I was really happy because I have an opportunity to work with him - because I think he is one of the best coaches I have worked with in my career," Kaludjerovic said.

Head coach Darije Kalezic is confident Kaludjerovic is the missing piece the Phoenix need to succeed.

"Andrija is a striker with a great mentality. He has great experience from playing football in a variety of different competitions," Kalezic said in a statement.

"He also has a good sense of [the A-League] after playing here before, which gives him a good view of the strength of the league, his possibilities and our expectations.

"Andrija terminated his contract in Thailand to join us. He really wants to be part of our team because he strongly believes in himself and our success."

Kaludjerovic is the fifth signing the Phoenix have made this off-season, having added Australian trio Scott Galloway, Daniel Mullen and Dario Vidosic to the squad, along with Croatian Goran Paracki.

The Phoenix begin their A-League campaign on October 8, at home to Adelaide United.
