Bay of Plenty edge Manawatu 20-17 in dour Mitre 10 Cup match in Palmerston North

Bay of Plenty have secured a come-from-behind 20-17 win over Manawatu at Central Energy Trusts Arena on Friday night.

The Turbos led 14-13 at the break thanks to tries from Otere Black and Lewis Marshall, while Joe Webber dotted down for the Steamers to go along with two penalties goals by Kelly Haimona.

The homeside were penalised 11 times in the second half and it ultimately led to when captain Heiden Bedwell-Curtis copping 10-minutes in the bin with seven minutes to play.

The Steamers took advantage and secured a penalty try with three-minutes remaining when Manawatu were found guilty of collapsing the scrum.

It was Bay of Plenty's second win of the season, while the Turbos fell to their third loss of 2017.

The Bay face Taranaki next Friday while Manawautu travels north to play Waikato on Saturday.
