After a long and successful season abroad, Tom Walsh is home.
The 25-year-old from Timaru won gold at the world championships in London with an impressive throw of 22.14m.
Walsh became the first New Zealand man to get a medal at the world championships, and it was something he was very proud of.
"Going to the world champs and winning gold was the ultimate goal," he says.
"It was something we had been working towards for so long and to do exactly what we wanted was amazing.
"To celebrate with my coach, and my family was amazing and it is something I want to feel again."
Despite winning the world title, Walsh's season ended on a sour note after finishing sixth in the final the final Diamond League meet in Belgium.
He was frustrated with the sixth place finish, but admitted he was simply trying too hard.
"When I don't throw well it is because I try too hard and when you do that it doesn't work.
"I was throwing really well the day before in training probably one of the better training sessions I've had all year so it was purely my stuff-up."
Walsh will now have six weeks off and then he will head to Birmingham in six weeks to compete at the world indoor championships to defend the title he claimed in Portland last year.
Then it's on to the Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast to hopefully better his silver medal from Glasgow in 2014.
