Southern Cross Campus have defended their throne as the kings of New Zealand secondary schools rugby league with a 44-0 demolition of Kelston Boys High School in the national final on Friday.
Coming off a hard-fought semi-final win over St Pauls College on Thursday, the South Auckland school ran riot at Bruce Pullman Park, running in eight tries to none in a dominant display of running rugby league.
Southern Cross used their superior kicking game to devastating effect, scoring a handful of tries off the boot to run out to a 16-0 halftime lead before bolting home in the final stanza.
In the development final, Marcellin College scored a comfortable win over Haeata Community Campus 30-8.
Rotorua Boys High School's Tom Ale was named player of the tournament, while Kelston's Jonathan Aumua Falelua-Malio was awarded the prize for best and fairest.
