Tongan centre Solomone Kata will miss the remainder of the Rugby League World Cup with a broken foot.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the second half of Tonga's 32-18 win over Samoa at Waikato Stadium.

Kata now faces three months on the sidelines, which will affect his pre-season duties with the Warriors, who are already without Gerard Beale for the with a double leg fracture.

This has been a challenging year for Kata, who only played 19 games for the Warriors with several injuries and some off-field issues.

Tonga are now preparing to face New Zealand in their final pool match, with the winners finishing top of pool B.

The winners will face the third-place team in pool A, likely to be Lebanon, in the quarter-finals, while the second-placed team face the winner of pool D.
