The man at the centre of the "cough-gate" saga, Justin Pipe, has been ousted by Phil Taylor at the PC World Darts championship on Sunday (NZ time).

Pipe was no match for the 16-time world champions, going down 4-0 in the second-round match at the Alexandra Palace.

The world No. 27 was accused of deliberately coughing close to Kiwi Bernie Smith in an attempt to distract the Christchurch plasterer when he was throwing to win the match.

Smith missed his match darts and Pipe went on to win that match, but his "coughing" antics were not well received by fans and media.

Pipe got a taste of his own medicine as Taylor dealt to the world No.27 in style as he averaged 99, hit two 180s and took out 54 percent of his doubles in the win.

Pipe was booed when he walked out onto the stage before the match and fans continuously booed him throughout the match.

After the match, Taylor admitted he felt sorry for Pipe.

"I've had 30 years of experience and I've never played in a game like that in my career. It was very, very strange," said Taylor.

"It was very difficult to concentrate; it was really hard. I just wanted to pinch that first set as I knew it'd be hard to concentrate for him with the crowd."

Taylor will take on former world youth champion Keegan Brown in the third round.

Meanwhile, five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld is through to the last 16 after beating Australian Kyle Anderson 4-1, while John Henderson has stunned fourth seed Daryl Gurney, claiming a 4-2 win over the Northern Irishman.
