The first two NFL playoff games of the 2017-2018 season has resulted in two stunning upsets.

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Los Angeles Rams to book their spot in the NFL divisional round.

Having only just sneaked into the playoffs, Atlanta beat their much more fancied opponents 26-13 at the Coliseum in the NFC wild-card fixture.

Last season’s MVP Matt Ryan led the away with one touchdown and 218 passing and was well supported by the Falcons defence that kept the regular season high-scoring Rams to just 13 points.

Atlanta will play the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday (NZT) for a spot in the NFC Championship game.

Earlier in the day, the Tennessee Titans set the underdog tone with a road-win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC wild-card matchup.

Tennessee overcame a 21-3 first-half deficit to score 19 unanswered points and steal the 22-21 upset win.

The 18-point comeback is tied for the second-largest away from home in NFL playoff history.
