The AM Show host Mark Richardson has admitted to once tampering with the ball in a cricket match for Otago.
The former Blackcap batsman said on The AM Show this morning there was a time when every cricketer was infatuated with the idea.
"I can remember doing it once at Carisbrook playing for Otago because there was great concrete little gutterings."
This involved giving the ball a quick swipe across the concrete before sending it back to the wicket keeper, he said.
However Richardson is fairly confident he did nothing of the sort when playing for New Zealand.
"I had no say as to anything that would happen with the New Zealand cricket team, nor did I ever want to have a say."
Richardson represented New Zealand in 38 tests from 2000 to 2004.
