Manchester City have dished out another dose of humiliation to Arsenal with a comfortable 3-0 win at the Emirates, bringing Pep Guardiola closer to his first EPL title.

Four days after brushing aside the Gunners by the same scoreline in the Carabao Cup final, City scored three times in a devastating first-half display through Bernardo Silva, David Silva and the brilliant Leroy Sane.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a penalty saved by City goalkeeper Ederson early in the second half, but Arsene Wenger's side were once again thoroughly outplayed, with the home fans making their displeasure felt.

Aubameyang stepped up confidently at the penalty spot after fellow new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan was brought down in the area by Nicolas Otamendi.

But Ederson guessed correctly and easily dived down to catch the effort.

Bernardo Silva revealed City were determined there would be no let-up after their cup win.

"It was a good day for us, especially in the first half," he said on Sky Sports. "We were very focused and very concentrated."

Sane paid tribute to coach Pep Guardiola for the part he has played in the development of this City team.

"I improve so much with him," the German forward said. "I think every player in our squad can tell you that."

Guardiola said: "It was so important today, so so important. We have another step forward. With every game we win, it (the title) is closer."

The City boss praised his side's ruthlessness in front of goal, saying: "Three or four shots on target and we scored three goals."

And he also complimented his goalkeeper Ederson, saying his penalty save was "outstanding".

Wenger though was scorned by Arsenal fans who also booed the players off the pitch.

Sixth-placed Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League but will probably have to win the Europa League in which they meet Italian giants AC Milan in the last 16 over the next two weeks.
