The Warriors have suffered a significant double injury blow prior to Saturday night's blockbuster clash with the Roosters in Sydney.

Half Shaun Johnson has been ruled out with a groin strain, while prop James Gavet has succumbed to a hamstring injury. The extetent of the injuries is as yet unknown.

Mason Lino will claim Johnson's  No. 7 jersey, while Bunty Afoa moves into the starting side for Gavet. His replacement on the bench is yet to be confirmed.

The losses are a cruel blow to their chances of tipping up the powerful Sydney City side, in particular Johnson. His form has been instrumental in the turnaround in the team's play so far this season.

Winger Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has also been cut from the extended 21-man squad, with coach Stephen Kearney expected to announce the final 17 an hour before kick-off.

The win over the Raiders in Canberra last weekend marked the first time the club had opened the season with three consecutive wins.
