Joseph Parker earnings for Anthony Joshua fight revealed by promoter Eddie Hearn

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker earned less than NZ$12.5million for his fight against Anthony Joshua, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed on Twitter.

The 26-year-old, had his WBO crown snatched away from him in Cardiff after a unanimous points defeat to Joshua on April 1 (NZ time).

There had been reports that Parker earned NZ$25m for the fight at the Principality Stadium, but Hearn quickly shut down those rumours: "Where an [sic] earth do you get that Parker purse from," he said in a tweet.

He then added later: "Cut in half and it's still too much."

It all stemmed from another report which said WBC champion Deontay Wilder's team asked for a 50/50 split in a fight to become undisputed world heavyweight champion - but it has since gone down to 40 percent.

Before that can happen, Joshua is expected to face Russian Alexander Povetkin first in a mandatory WBA title defence.

Parker has yet to announce when he'll next step into the ring.
