Silver Ferns defender Kelly Jury has suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder as the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic fell to the Southern Steel 64-60 in their ANZ Premiership clash in Dunedin.

The 21-year-old was helped off the court late in the first quarter after she and Steel goal shoot Jennifer O'Connell fell attempting to rebound a missed shot.

She didn't return to the game and had to watch the rest of the match on the sidelines with her arm in a sling.

The injury forced the Magic to make some positional changes in defence with wing defence Hayley Saunders moving into goal defence.

It was a double blow for the Magic who remain without a win this season. They had a chance late in the encounter when the scores were locked up at 55-55, but some silky shooting from Selby-Rickit propelled the Steel to victory.

The win moves the Steel to second on the ladder while the Magic remain tied in last with the Northern Stars.
