New Zealand cheerleading teams shine at world championships in Florida

All three of New Zealand's cheerleading teams have placed at the world championships in Florida this weekend.

More than 70 countries were in action in Orlando vying for gold in a sport which continues to rapidly grow in popularity across the globe.

Team New Zealand's senior all girls squad earned a silver medal, while both the Co-ed and Junior teams snatched up bronze.

With cheerleading now recognised as a provisional Olympic sport, there is a chance New Zealand could have a team at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
