NRL: New Warriors ownership to be announced

Confirmation of the Warriors' new owners appears to be imminent.

Newshub understands that an announcement from is due within the next 24 hours and as early as Wednesday afternoon.

Auckland Rugby League has all but been confirmed to take over, having already agreed on a sale and purchase agreement with current owner Eric Watson and his representatives.

A consortium bid spearheaded by Hawaii-based businessman Richard Fale was ruled out of contention last week, with the American "shocked" to receive an email rejecting their offer.

"We thought we were just ironing out details before we reached a deal, that it was just timing on when the transaction was actually going to be completed," Fale told 1News.

"To wake up this morning was definitely was definitely a shocker, so we're not sure exactly what to make of everything."

The ARL's offer is reportedly less than Fale's $24m bid, but the overall package and the simplicity of their deal is apparently more appealing to Watson.

The Auckland-based club is currently amid one of its best starts to an NRL season, sitting third on the ladder after eight rounds.
