Kiwi basketballer Tai Webster has been named to play for the Miami Heat in the upcoming NBA Summer League series.

The 23-year old’s agent confirmed the news that he would be attending the Sacramento and Las Vegas tournament, alongside some of the NBA's best and developing young talent.

The Heat will participate in three games at the Sacramento League from July 2 (NZ time), before heading to Las Vegas, where their first of at least five games is scheduled for, July 8 (NZ time).

So far, he is the sole Kiwi picked to play in the leagues, with Shea Ili on standby as cover for the Dallas Mavericks.

Webster wasn't picked in the Tall Blacks squad for their World Cup qualifiers due to his Summer League commitments.

Last season, Webster played with the Fraport Skyliners of the German BBL, where he started 31 of his 37 appearances, averaging 14.9 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds.

The combo guard represented the Charlotte Hornets and Golden State Warriors at the Orlando and Las Vegas Summer League’s respectively last season.
