Motorsport: Indycar ace Scott Dixon crashes out of American Ninja Warrior

No doubt, Kiwi IndyCar ace Scott Dixon can drive a car very fast, but he’s proved he is no ninja off the track.

Last month, the 37-year-old tried his hand at popular show American Ninja Warrior in Indianapolis in the build-up to the famed Indy 500 event. That episode screened on US TV this week, proving Dixon should probably stay behind the wheel.

Cheered on by his family and fellow driver Tony Kanaan, he methodically navigated the first two obstacles with aplomb.

But fatigue started to set in, as Dixon hit the infamous 'Wheel Flip' and he fell into the waiting water, crushing his ninja dreams.

Dixon was stoked with his performance and hoped he could give the obstacle course another shot in the future.

"I hope to be able to come back and put a little more effort next time," he said to the cameras after his run.

"That was awesome."
