Netball: Central Pulse stretch winning run to six against Mystics

Central Pulse have maintained their unbeaten start to the ANZ Premiership netball season, overrunning Northern Mystics 60-38 for their sixth straight win.

The scoreline also represented the Mystics' biggest loss in the competition.

Playing without international shooter Maria Folau, the Auckland-based side never had the firepower to compete with their rivals, who led 18-12 after the opening quarter and held the northerners to just six goals in the second.

Rookie shooter Aliyah Dunn continued her outstanding touch this season, slotting 39 goals from 42 attempts. She leads premiership shooting stats with a 91 percent success rate.

Mystics shooters Jamie Hume and Bailey Mes could convert only 69 percent of their shots.

The Pulse are now four points clear of their nearest challengers - defending champions Southern Steel - who lost to the league leaders by 31 goals midweek, but edged the Northern Stars in Sunday's other encounter.

The Stars led by a goal into the final quarter and the two teams went virtually goal for goal down the stretch.

But with about a minute remaining and her team up by a goal, Steel goal keep Courtney Elliott intercepted a pass into the Stars shooting circle that allowed Te Paea Selby-Rickit to seal a 63-61 victory at the other end.

The result meant the Stars remain winless.
