NRL: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck in serious doubt for Warriors clash with Manly

The Warriors could be without captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck when they resume their NRL campaign against Manly on Saturday.

The 24-year-old is a major injury concern for coach Stephen Kearney as the club looks to bounce back from a 20-point loss to South Sydney two weeks ago.

Tuivasa-Sheck played a limited role at training on Wednesday and it's believed he is struggling to overcome an ankle complaint suffered against the 'Bunnies'.

Backline utility Peta Hiku trained a majority of the session at fullback after being named at centre on Tuesday night.

The Warriors have Gerard Beale on an extended bench who would be a ready-made replacement for Hiku in the Warriors midfield.

"He (Tuivasa-Sheck) had a run today and didn't look so good so we just have two wait and see how he pulls up over the next little bit," Kearney said.

"But we'll try and give him as long as we can but it didn't look real good for him today. But we'll see he could pull up better tomorrow."

It's an injury worry that Kearney can ill-afford after an inconsistent run that has seen his side fail to win back-to-back matches since round five, over two months ago.

Playmaker Shaun Johnson has relieved Kearney's concerns somewhat and will take his place in Christchurch this weekend.

The Warriors No.7 hasn't played due to an ankle injury he suffered on May 5, when the Warriors topped the Wests Tigers in Auckland

Manly have their own injury worries with almost a dozen first graders in doubt for their New Zealand trip and Jake and Tom Trbojevic backing up from State of Origin Duty.
