Double Olympic Champion Mahe Drysdale’s lucky to have walked away from training uninjured, after another crew, made up of kids, t-boned him on the course.

Posting on Facebook, Drysdale said it was 'a miracle' neither he nor the kids, were hurt, considering his boat went straight through the middle of theirs.

"I think the kids will look a little better next time before crossing the course," Drysdale said.

"I got an early morning swim and the kids’ one hell of a fright, #Insurersnightmare.”

Drysdale’s been training with the New Zealand team in Munich, after he was forced to pull out of Rowing’s World Cup II in Austria, due to illness.

"They say bad luck comes in threes. Hopefully, a broken bike, broken boat and sickness on tour are my three this year," Drysdale said.

Possibly starting his run of good luck is news the team will be able to replace his boat in time for the crucial decider against current men’s single sculler Robbie Manson, in two weeks’ time.

The duo will contest the only men’s singles spot available at the World Championships in September when they line up at World Cup III in Lucerne.

Drysdale plans to warm-up for the event with smaller regattas around Europe.

He’ll next race in Amsterdam, where he’s asked a favour of the hosts – to lend him a spare boat for the race.

Drysdale will also line up at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta, in England on July 4 (local time).
