Rugby league: Kiwis forward Martin Taupau shows off NFL skills

Kiwis powerhouse Martin Taupau is used to bending defensive lines on the NRL field, but could he have a future doing the same on the gridiron?

NZ captain Issac Luke certainly thinks so, after the Manly forward looked a natural, flinging the pigskin around Denver's Mile High Stadium, home of the NFL's Broncos.

"He thinks he's a quarterback," Luke told media following Saturday morning's (NZ time) captains run.

"I think he came out, like Taumalolo did, about coming to the NFL. He probably could play as well."

Last year, former Kiwis forward Jason Taumalolo attempted to follow the trail blazed by Jarryd Hayne with the San Francisco 49ers, as he travelled to the US to participate in workouts for a handful of NFL scouts.

The crossover sentiments weren't reciprocated by Broncos long snapper Casey Kreiter, who was on hand for his first taste of rugby league.

"It's crazy, there are some guys here who are massive and it's like 'man, I would not want to be tackled by him’," said Kreiter with a laugh.
