Rugby: Young fan drills All Blacks in inspirational speech

A young fan has channelled his inner-Kurt Russell from the movie, Miracle, giving the All Blacks a much-needed pep talk ahead of the third test against France.

Karl Tu'inukuafe, Jeff Toomaga-Allen and Luke Whitelock were on the receiving end of aspiring rugby player, Flynn Atkinson's words of wisdom.

He challenged the team to "play fair" and not talk back to referee after controversy marred their victories in the first two tests.

Nobody was spared as Atkinson urged the players to throw the ball around, before signing off with "you got it boys" to cap off a motivational speech any rugby coach would be proud of.

The All Blacks trio reflected on their own experiences of pre-match encouragement, all drawing from different sources of inspiration.

"Someone I thought was very good at it was Jamie Joseph down here in the Highlanders," Whitelock said.

"He was one for challenging the group, he made you want to go out there and give it your best shot."

Toomaga-Allen and Tu'inukuafe were quick to pay respect to their loved ones.

"Mine was always my mum, keep me humble. She’s always in my ear about not taking the easy route," Toomaga-Allen said.

"My dad, just always pushing me," Tu'inukuafe said.
