Former English Premier League defender Steven Taylor seems likely to be confirmed as a key signing for the Wellington Phoenix on Tuesday.
The Australian A-League club postponed a player announcement on Monday, but have rescheduled for today, with Taylor's current club - Peterborough United - clearing the way for his move overnight.
Taylor, 32, made his EPL debut with Newcastle United in 2004 as a teenager and played 215 games, scoring 13 goals, over 13 years.
Since leaving Newcastle in 2016, he spent a season with Portland Timbers in the American MLS, before returning to England with Ipswich Town and Peterborough.

After captaining England Under-16, Taylor has flirted with selection for the full England national side, without quite cracking the playing line-up.
Taylor would become the first player signing for new Phoenix coach Mark Rudan, who was appointed last month, after the club struggled through another forlorn A-League season to finish one point off the bottom of the table.
The Phoenix also face a questionable future in the competition, with a license that expires after the 2019/20 season and several other bidders circling for their spot.
