Football World Cup: French success stamps Kylian Mbappé as major talent

If France emerge as winners of the 2018 Football World Cup, their success will probably have established Kylian Mbappé as a major talent on the rise.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has again a huge factor in the 1-0 victory over Belgium to progress to the final and Newshub's Michael O'Keeffe saw special qualities in the teenager, despite some on field theatrics.

"Speaking to a lot of people after the match, they were disappointed in Mbappé for diving like that," says the former NZ international goalie. "But Mbappé's only 19 years old and I think we saw a little bit of maturity later on in that match.

"Take the example of him and the yellow card he earned at the end of the game - that was intentional.

"Maybe it was a bit of a blip on the game, but that's the sort of gamesmanship that you need late in those games."
