FULLTIME: We are going to penalties in Sochi. This is going to be intense. It is a sad way to end this titanic tussle.

119mins: Danijel Subasic makes another clutch save. I am feeling more and more nervous as I type this. Not long to go now.

118mins: Two minutes remain. Russia on the attack. They have the ball in Croatia's half with all the momentum right now.

116mins: The emotion on the Sochi crowd is unreal. They have found their voice once again.

105mins: The second half of extra-time is underay. Russia must score or they are out.

HALFTIME: Croatia is 15 minutes away from a World Cup semi-final after scoring in the 100th minute. But Danijel Subasic is down again in pain. The next 15 minutes will be interesting as Russia want to launch everything at Subasic.

105mins: Two minutes of added time to end the first half of extra-time.

103mins: Domagoj Vida took his shirt off when he scored so he is carded. Russia have an attacking free-kick which goes out for a corner. It goes out and Russia have another corner.

95mins: Another Croatia player is injured. This is not looking good you must say... They confirm Vrsaljko will come off. That means Vedran Ćorluka will come on.

FULLTIME: The game is locked up and 1-1, and we have extra time. 30 more minutes of football is awaiting us.

Croatia has been the better side, but Russia has done what they have done all tournament, and do enough to stay in these tight contests. Will the home crowd bring it home?

69mins: Russia with some rare ball but once again they can't do much with it. I get that feeling that a goal is coming very soon.

66mins: Croatia have had two-thirds of the ball with 25 minutes to play. Russian goal-scoring hero Denis Cheryshev is off for Fyodor Smolov.

44mins: It seems like both teams are comfortable to head to the sheds locked up at 1-1.

41mins: Russia on the attack and somebody goes down in the box, is that a penalty? No it is not becuase the whistle was for a foul ealrier in the play.

39mins: GOAL CROATIA: We are back where we started as  Andrej Kramaric scores fro Croatia. It was bound to happen. They had a 3-on-2 counterattack, and they convert to silence to Sochi crowd.

34mins: Some nervy moments but Russia clear the ball. There is a foul down the field of play and Dejan Lovren is given a  yellow card.

33mins: That goal has ignited the crowd and Croatia in that matter as they have a corner.

31mins: GOAL RUSSIA: Out of nowhere Russia is in the lead. What a beauty! Denis Cheryshev from outside the box with his left foot into the top corner and Danijel Subasic had no chance of saving it. Wow, wow, wow, wow.

30mins: Russia try to get the ball forward, but it is proving difficult as we reach the half-hour mark in Sochi.

27mins: Ivan Perisic has a golden chance for the games first goal, but it goes wide. Still no shots on goal for either side.

25mins: Russia gets the ball inside their third, but Croatia clears it away, but not out of danger. The Russian attackers come In trying to take the ball off Ante Rebic, but it does work as the referee blows his whistle.

23mins: Most of this game is being played in Russia's half. Croatia launch an attack but it comes to nothing.

20mins: Russia have some rare ball, and they attack down the left wing before backtracking. They fire a cross in, and it goes out for a goal-kick.

18mins: Croatia holds the ball inside the attack third and have had around 70 percent possession. An Iceland like clap goes around the stadium as Russia steal the ball, but Croatia gets it back shortly afterwards.

Prematch banter: FIFA World Cup quarter-final predictions

Chris Forster: RadioLIVE sport editor - Croatia

Russia are riding a wave of positivity as the hosts of a lively, multi-cultural tournament. Putin will be proud. Very proud.

But reality will sink in for a limited team against the classy and vastly experienced Croatian side, who will need to lift from their scratchy display against the Danes last time around.

There will also be an uncontrollable urge to setup a winnable semi-final against England or Sweden.

Ben Francis: Newshub sport digital producer - Russia

Simply because they are the team I drew in both the Newshub sweepstakes!

Michael O'Keeffe: Newshub sport reporter - Croatia

Croatia's star midfield will need to step up after going hiding in their last game against Denmark. I think they'll be too strong for a Russian side whose dream run ends here.

2-0 Croatia.

Henry Rounce: RadioLIVE sport reporter - Croatia

Russia's fairytale run has to end at some point.

With Rakitic and Modric pulling the strings and controlling the tempo for Croatia, they'll have enough to grind past the niggly Russians.
