FULLTIME: CHIEFS 24 - 19 BRUMBIES

80mins: Pocock takes the dropout quickly and the Brumbies have it! They go right through Kuridrani, he links up with Pocock and straightens up nicely. Banks cuts in field and they're up to the 22m. Brumbies knock on! Phew! Looks as if Chiefs knocked on first. Tough call on the Brumbies. Chiefs win the scrum and kick it out! What a game.

78mins: Brumbies look well up for his, throwing the ball around but Hawera loses it and McKenzie puts the kick through! Speight cleans up but the Brumbies concede the penalty at the breakdown and McKenzie will have a shot at goal and he misses it!

76mins: BRUMBIES TRY - SPEIGHT: Brumbies try the set move from the lineout, Speight wraps around Lucas, gets the ball and puts the foot down to race in for his second try! Game on!

74mins: Brumbies straight on attack once again from the restart as Arnold makes a promising run! Chiefs struggling to get back and concede the penalty. They're not done just yet. They'll have the lineout just 10 out.

72mins: BRUMBIES TRY - BANKS: Naisarani shows great strength to step out of a couple of tackles before Faingaa makes a strong charge. Hawera shows the ball, ghosts through, finds Lucas and it's a simple pass to Banks to run in for the try. Looked easy.

70mins: Brumbies win the lineout and drive. They're not really going anywhere and Ardron does brilliantly to attack through the middle and wrap the ball carrier, forcing the turnover.

68mins: Brumbies struggling to get the ball back from the scrum as the Chiefs continue to infringe. They finally concede the penalty and the Brumbies opt for the lineout instead.

66mins: We're checking something upstairs. Lucas is down, so could potentially be foul play. Parete made contact late around Lucas' head. He's shown the yellow card, and shakes his head as he marches off the field.

64mins: Brumbies do well to steal the lineout as Arnold has a charge. Speight gets a nice cutout pass but he's well covered. They go back in field but knock on before Alaimalo can't reel in McKenzie's pass along the ground.

62mins: Both teams ringing the changes. What a two minutes of play from the McKenzie brothers. Marty kicks long for Banks to counter, but his pass is fumbled into touch.

60mins: CHIEFS TRY - FA'AULI: McKenzie intercepts from 90 metres out! He looks to be in but Banks is hot on his heels and forces him to pass to his brother Marty, before interfering with his pass back to Damian. Chiefs still have it, Marty puts the chip kick for Fa'auli, it hits the padding, and he somehow holds onto the ball to score the try.

57mins: Pocock goes clean through from the restart! He draws McKenzie in, gives it to Banks, he draws one in and finds Muirhead to sprint down the left wing but he's cut down just metres out! Brumbies hot on attack and the Chiefs are forced to concede the penalty.

55mins: BRUMBIES TRY - SPEIGHT: Arnold gets up to get the lineout ball, loses it but it comes back their side for a second wave of attack. Kuridrani and Speight each have a crack at the line and go close! They put quickly through the hands on the right and Speight's in for the try!

53mins: Brumbies win the lineout and drive, they're making good progress before the Chiefs concede the penalty as a player joined the maul incorrectly. They opt for another lineout.

51mins: Banks finds a bit of space before Alaimalo stops him in his tracks. Brumbies switch right, putting it through the hands but McCaafferey's pass to Speight is poor, and the winger loses it into touch.

49mins: More problems at the scrum before the Chiefs concede the penalty. It's been their one real problem area this game. Banks tries going long but again, it's not out.

47mins: Chiefs looking good here, they go wide through Pulu, he puts the grubber through and it comes back their way! The switch direction but the ball comes free as the Brumbies kick through but the ref calls them, Brumbies knocked on.

45mins: Banks tries getting on the outside of McKenzie but the first-five just manages to hang on drag him down. Boshier gets right on top of the ball and wins the penalty! McKenzie finds touch on the 22m.

43mins: Stevenson attacks from deep before giving it to Alaimalo to charge on his inside. McKenzie tries finding a charging Tu'inukuafe but he knocks on as he was tackled.

41mins: We're back underway for Speight but he's well contained. Lealiifano clears long down field for a Chiefs lineout on halfway.

HALFTIME: CHIEFS 17 - 0 BRUMBIES

40mins: Ta'avao is penalised for 'jumping the gun' at the scrum. Brumbies win the lineout on halfway, go through Godwin and he frees up Kuridrani but it was forward and that's halftime.

38mins: Cane's going off for an HIA. Chiefs win their own scrum and clear down field. Kuridrani has one of his many charges but Stevenson does well to rip it away from him. There's space out wide for the Chiefs, Wainui draws one before passing to Pulu but he knocks on.

36mins: Brumbies keeping it tight, taking it up through their forwards. They're inside the 22m and Arnold does brilliantly to free up Lealiifano and he gives it to Kuridrani to charge! Brumbies just a couple of metres out, Arnold tries spinning out of the tackle but loses it! He was over otherwise.

34mins: McKenzie sends a long punt down field for Banks to counter. Kuridrani gets caught in the backfield but does well to free it up. Lealiifano cuts through the Chiefs defence! He's tackled just outside the Chiefs 22m.

32mins: CHIEFS TRY - MCKENZIE: Jacobson does brilliantly to free Cane with the offload, he links up with McKenzie and he's away! He finds Weber with an incredible offload behind the back. Ball comes left to McKenzie once again, he puts the foot down and he races in for the try!

30mins: Eneber this time gets up to claim the lineout and it's Kuridrani again with a strong charge. They try and go quickly but lose it in contact and Ngatai clears only as far as Banks to return.

28mins: Arnold wins the lineout and the Brumbies drive just five metres out. They've got the advantage and Kuridrani throws himself at the defence and he goes close. We'll come back for the penalty.

26mins: Banks loads up for a charge but Cane meets him on halfway and drives him backwards. Jacbobson gets over the ball at the breakdown and concedes the penalty.

24mins: CHIEFS TRY - HARRIS: Stevenson busts through two tackles and puts the Chiefs into the Brumbies 22m. Chiefs make steady progress and now it's Ngatai who makes a strong run as he goes close! Harris explodes onto the ball and he's over!

21mins: Chiefs scrum under pressure and concede the penalty. Brumbies win the lineout and try the drive but the ball comes free for the Chiefs to counter. Ngatai kicks ahead and finds touch inside the Brumbies 22m.

19mins: Alaimalo in a lot of space on the right side but the Brumbies do well to cut him off and make the tackle. McKenzie tries a no-look inside pass but it's well forward and we'll have a scrum.

17mins: Neither side scared to throw it around inside their own half. Chiefs now with it and McKenzie almost puts Lealiifano away but he can't hang onto the intercept. Very close that. Had three grabs at it.

15mins: McKenzie tries the chip kick just outside own 22m and gets the bounce! He's up over halfway before offloading to Cane to have a charge. They shift quick to the left and there's space for Wainui but he's dragged into touch.

13mins: Chiefs want points and McKenzie will have the shot at goal about 30 metres out dead in front. He makes solid contact and slots it over.

11mins: We're struggling to get through a scrum with a number of resets. Finally it comes free for Wainui to charge. McKenzie beats one and puts Weber in half a gap before Mayhew concedes the penalty at the ruck.

9mins: Brumbies win the lineout on halfway and try to spread it wide quickly. Muirhead gets it but he's quite up right and the Chiefs do well to hold him up and force the turnover. Brumbies quite keen to run it.

7mins: Brumbies try the set move from the lineout but Muirhead's forced to reach for the ball and goes well to hang before being tackled. They're just metres but lose it and Weber clears. Allardice concedes the penalty at the maul.

5mins: Muirhead is put into a bit of space down the left wing and puts the grubber though but the Chiefs do well to get back and McKenzie clears. Chiefs guilty of holding on to the ball too long and concede the penalty.

3mins: Chiefs find space down the right wing after Stevenson's turnover at the breakdown. They're building nicely and are into the Brumbies 22m but knock on.

1mins: Brumbies kick-off and McKenzie takes and sends it long down field with the boot. Brumbies will have the game's opening lineout on halfway.

5:15pm: Teams have made the walk and we're just about ready to get underway. We should be in for a cracker!

5:10pm: Players about to make their way out onto the field. Kick-off's just five minutes away. Brumbies are no joke, they beat the Hurricanes last week and will back themselves here tonight.

Pre-match banter: In-form Chiefs seek playoff spot with win over Brumbies

The in-form Chiefs prepare to host the Brumbies knowing that a win will go close to securing a playoff spot for the Super Rugby finals.

The clash at Waikato Stadium is the Chiefs' first game back at home after the International June break and they will be looking to carry on the tremendous form that saw them run rampant in Suva against the Highlanders last weekend, winning 45-22.

Coach Colin Cooper hopes his side can bring that confidence into this game and looks forward to the fantastic support from the locals.

"We are hoping to build the confidence and excitement from the Highlanders game and take that into the Brumbies game this weekend," Cooper said.

"Both teams are great attacking teams, playing with a lot of confidence.

"It’ll be a great spectacle and our home fans can give us the edge we need."

Their Canberra based opposition played valiantly last weekend to secure a 24-12 win against the Hurricanes.

Cooper knows they’ll be a real threat and highlighted Wallabies loose forward David Pocock as one to watch.

"The Brumbies are coming here with confidence after beating the Hurricanes," Cooper said.

"They have an outstanding loose forward in Pocock who will be a real threat. They have a great lineout and are always a threat on attack."

There’s only one change to the forward pack from the team that beat the Highlanders, with All Blacks hooker Nathan Harris returning to the fold after the birth of his first child.

"It's good to have Nathan back. We are pleased he could spend time with his partner and his first child.

"He's really excited and raring to go," said Cooper.

Anton Lienert-Brown is rested as part of his All Black commitments with Sean Wainui moving to his natural position of centre.

Winger Shaun Stevenson gets the chance to impress with a start on the wing.
