New Zealand Football has publicly apologised to for an incorrect statement former chief executive Andy Martin made about a former staff member.
In a press conference on June 20, Martin stated there was a "performance management issue" around the former staff member who complained about the culture of the women's national team following the Ferns' Spain camp in March.
But the national organisation has backtracked, releasing a statement saying that Martin's comments about the "performance management issue around the individual" were "factually totally incorrect".
"During a press conference on 20 June 2018, the chief executive officer of New Zealand Football, Andy Martin, in answer to questions from the media in respect of matters raised by a former New Zealand Football staff member, stated that the matters were linked to a 'performance management issue around the individual', the New Zealand Football statement reads.
"This statement was factually totally incorrect. There were no performance management issues as they relate to this former New Zealand Football staff member. Quite the opposite.
"New Zealand Football are pleased to take this opportunity to apologise to the former New Zealand staff member for making such a statement."
