We have a showdown.

Sunday at 10pm (NZ time) two-time Olympic champion Mahe Drysdale and World Record holder Robbie Manson will face off in the winner-takes-all World Cup final in Lucerne.

The victor will claim the sole seat at the World Championships in September and ultimately, first dibs at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Manson remains unbeaten this year and he's proved he is still the man to beat, after he cruised to a comfortable victory over five-time World Champion Ondrej Synek, to take out his semi-final by three seconds on Sunday morning (NZ time).

But you can't count out Drysdale. The 39-year-old put down a blistering time of 6:43.49 in a loaded semi-final to claim second behind 22-year-old German sensation Oliver Zeidler by just 0.20 seconds.

It's Drysdale's fastest time in the single, since his return from a lengthy break after the Rio Olympics late last year.

On Instagram, Drysdale said the showdown "has certainly cemented in my mind how much I love what I do, how lucky I am to be able to do it and why I am back."

"Everything up until this point is now forgotten, we all start level tomorrow and the winner goes to Plovdiv… #ItsGreatToBeBack"

The intensity has lifted for the final World Cup regatta of the season, with Germany also using the event as selection for the World Champs.

German's Oliver Zeidler and Tim Ole Naske, who both contested Drysdale's semi-final, will also line up in the final.

It's a loaded start line, with Czech veteran Ondrej Synek also in the mix.

In other finals, the new New Zealand men's pair of Tom Murray and Michael Brake will contest their first final in the boat, after they claimed second place behind France in the semi-final.

World Champions John Storey and Chris Harris in the men's double are set to line up favourites, after taking out their semi-final ahead of Switzerland.

And world champions Olivia Loe and Brooke Donoghue in the women's double and Kerri Gowler and Grace Prendergast in the women's pair will also line up as favourites after remaining unbeaten this regatta.
