Basketball: Steven Adams shows off 'free' snazzy footwear featuring his face

Kiwi basketballer Steven Adams is known for his unique camouflage fashion and his footwear is just as special.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star is back in New Zealand, hosting camps for young basketball players around the country, beginning in Auckland, then Palmerston North and Dunedin.

At the media conference, one reporter asked the 24-year-old about his choice of bright orange slides, which had Adams' face on it.

"Some dude from I-Slide made them and sent them to me," he said. "I love free stuff.

"They're awesome and comfy too, which is a bonus."

Adams refused to say when he'll make himself available for the Tall Blacks. He said he doesn't know why there had been so much interest about when he'd play for his country.

"Don't make it about me. These players are going out there and playing - make it about them.

"They deserve a lot more attention than I'm getting on their behalf. I find that weird - I'm not playing."
