English Premier League: Manchester City thrash Huddersfield

  • 20/08/2018

A Sergio Aguero hat-trick has helped Manchester City to a second win from two matches in the English Premier League, thrashing Huddersfield 6-1.

Aguero opened the scoring after 25 minutes, with a delightful chipped effort, after a long ball from City goalkeeper Ederson put him in the clear.

Gabriel Jesus doubled City's advantage shortly after, before Aguero added his second to complete a run of three goals in 10 minutes for the defending champions.

Huddersfield picked up an unlikely goal from a long throw-in just before the break to go into the sheds trailing 3-1.

City didn't waste any time reasserting their dominance, as Spanish international David Silva placed a brilliant free-kick into the top corner.

Aguero completed his hat-trick midway through the half, before an unfortunate own goal completed the rout.

City's win backs up their opening-round win over Arsenal, as they continue to set the pace in the English Premier League.

Elsewhere, All Whites striker Chris Wood started and played 65 minutes, but couldn't help Burnley avoid a 3-1 home defeat to Watford.
