Veteran midcourt Laura Langman has been welcomed back into the Silver Ferns fold, named in the squad for the upcoming international quad series.

Langman is joined in the wider squad by her long-time teammate Casey Kopua, who had retired earlier this year after the birth of her daughter.

Langman has been granted an exemption from Netball New Zealand, after not playing in the ANZ Premiership in 2018.

The 32-year-old hasn't played for the Ferns in two years, since her previous exemption was overruled by the board of Netball New Zealand.

Langman joined forces with Noeline Taurua at the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Australian domestic competition, winning the inaugural title.

On Wednesday, Netball New Zealand CEO Jennie Wyllie said finding a replacement for departed coach Janine Southby was an ongoing process.

"It's important we get this right," Wyllie said. "We hope to announce a coach or an interim coach by September 10.

"For us, it's important we take time. We understand there is urgency around putting someone on place, but the most important thing is finding the right person for the job.

"If we have to, we will put an interim coach in place, but ideally we want to announce a head coach by September 10.

"We are really excited about the people we are talking to."

Langman's return to the team would suggest that now Southby is no longer in charge, the door has been opened for her return.

Wyllie wouldn't comment on a possible rift between Langman and the former coach, stating that the time was right for Langman's comeback.

"She needed some time out," Wyllie said. "The time is right and she is feeling refreshed."

Kopua's return was heavily signalled in the past few weeks and her inclusion is seen as a major boost for the Silver Ferns, as they look to bounce back from a horror Commonwealth Games campaign.

The defender missed the last weeks of the ANZ Premiership with a foot injury.

"Casey has always been clear that she wanted to be in the mix in some way and she made herself available, which is really exciting," Wyllie said.

"To have someone of Casey's calibre to bring through the young talent is invaluable."
