Blues captain, Augustine Pulu has signed for Japanese club, Hino Red Dolphins in the Top Challenge League.

The halfback is joined by teammate and former All Black, Pauliasi Manu.

Pulu has spent the past two Super Rugby seasons with the Auckland-based outfit, and was given the captain's armband at the start of the year by coach Tana Umaga.

He's looking forward to joining the newly promoted Red Dolphins.

"I am very pleased to join Hino Red Dolphins this time and live in Japan with my family," Pulu told the team's website.

"It was a big decision for me and my family, but I am feeling the pleasure of becoming a member of the Hino Red Dolphins who has a great potential to win after a tough fight last year.

"I would like to contribute so that Hino Red Dolphins can establish a solid position in the top league even inside and outside the pitch. I really appreciate being part of a team with amazing coaching staff, players and culture."

The Red Dolphins already boast fellow Kiwis, Gillies Kaka, Hayden Cripps and Liaki Moli on their books.

Manu also spoke of his excitement at the prospect of playing in the Japanese competition.

"As a rugby player in my home country New Zealand I got a career as a rugby player, but I am steadily preparing to rampage in the top league as a member of Hino Red Dolphins in Xintiandi Japan, " he told the team's website.

"I am very much looking forward to not only rugby in Japan but also Japanese culture with my family in Xintiandi, Japan."
