With few giving the Lions much of a chance of upsetting the Crusaders in Saturday's Super Rugby final, other subplots have emerged.
Earlier in the week, All Blacks coach Steve Hansen alluded to the clash as another dress rehearsal for first-five Richie Mo'unga, as he looks to leapfrog Beauden Barrett for the international number 10 jersey.
Mo'unga has been in superb form this season and is odds-on favourite to lead the Crusaders to back-to-back titles, but is talk of him surpassing Barrett premature?
