Kiwi Michael Venus and South African Raven Klaasen are through to the second round of the US Open men's doubles at Flushing Meadows.
The eighth seeds have beaten singles specialists Lukas Lacko of Slovakia and Australian John Millman 6-2 6-2 in 55 minutes on Thursday morning (NZ time).
The pair had no problems against their rivals, converting four of their eight break point chances to win in straight sets in the final Grand Slam of the year.
Venus and Klaasen reached the Wimbledon final earlier in the year, but lost to American duo Mike Bryan and Jack Sock.
Venus and Klaasen will face either Argentine Maximo Gonzalez/Chilean Nicolas Jarry or Spaniard David Marrero/Pole Marcin Matkowski in the second round.
Fellow Kiwi Marcus Daniell and Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof are also through to the next round, with a 6-3, 7-6(8) win over Max Miryni (Belarus) and Philipp Oswald (Austria).
The third Kiwi in the field - Artem Sitak and his Indian partner Divij Sharan - will face the American wildcard pair of Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu on Friday morning (NZ time).
