Football: Benjamin Kololli falls down dry moat celebrating goal in Europa League

  • 21/09/2018

FC Zurich midfielder Benjamin Kololli was delighted to score what turned out to be the winning goal in the Europa League on Friday (NZ time), but fans will remember his celebration more.

Kololli slotted home a 61st-minute penalty against AEK Larnaca in Cyprus and went to celebrate with travelling Zurich fans at AEK Arena.

Having leapt over an advertising board, he then cleared another barrier, not realising he was about to drop into a dry moat that stopped supporters from invading the pitch.

The Kosovo international then had a great big fall down the moat that separated him and the shocked fans.

Teammates ran over to see if Kololli was alright. He couldn't be seen on the camera angles for a few seconds.

The 26-year-old then re-emerged unscathed from his fall and scrambled back onto the pitch, looking visibly shaken.

Luckily, he wasn't injured and was able to see out the remainder of the game, which Zurich won 1-0.
