The 51-year-old President of Liberia, George Weah, has come out of retirement to play for the national football team in a friendly against Nigeria.
Mr Weah, who turned to politics after a distinguished career in football, took office in January this year.
He played 79 minutes in the friendly match which featured a number of English Premier League players.
Mr Weah received a standing ovation when he was substituted off, as Liberia went down 2-1.
The match was arranged to retire the number 14 shirt Mr Weah wore in his playing days.
He played for many notable clubs over the course of his career including Chelsea, Manchester City and AC Milan, and in 1995 became the first African player to win the World Player of the Year award.
He played 61 times for Liberia in a career now spanning 31 years from 1987 to 2018, likely the longest of any footballer.
